Hi, friends! I just wanted to share this rad Cassini photo w y’all. Not only does Saturn look flawless eclipsing the sun, but oh mon dieu— click on the pic to make it bigger cause you will HAVE to zoom in. You see that little dot on the left? It’s right up there by the ring, between 9 and 10 o’ clock. Guys, that’s us. That’s earth. I know. It is such an awe inspiring, mind blowing image (for me, at least) and it just reinforces my favorite quote by the gawd of cosmos, himself— Carl Sagan. We really do live on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Amazing. You can find the quote in his book, Pale Blue Dot, which is fantastic. Here is an excellent excerpt:
“The earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity — in all this vastness — there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. It is up to us. It’s been said that astronomy is a humbling, and I might add, a character-building experience. To my mind, there is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.”

Ever since I vowed to Be Serious at the beginning of the month, some really great things have started happening. Not too long ago, I told y’all I wanted to visit Dubai. It is also no mystery that I am dying to be a flight attendant. Just my luck— Emirates is hiring! I am DYING. Emirates is beyond luxurious. Like, BEYOND LUXURIOUS in all caps. Not only that, but they are also the major sponsors of my favorite soccer team, Arsenal FC! Don’t even get me started on the unbelievably chic uniforms, cause I would NEVER shut up. I’d be getting paid to look hot and fly everywhere and be fabulous aka myself. Like, this job was obviously created with me in mind. Red lipstick and heels are required at all times. Hello? Did y’all know that I would have to MOVE to Dubai? Emirates would pay for my apartment, though. Guys. GUYS.
A few months ago, I didn’t bother to show up to an interview for an airline via my crippling quarter life crisis. Now that I have come back to life, this opportunity has presented itself. I have an interview next weekend. Realistically, the chances of me getting hired are pretty slim since I haven’t had a real job in years. I am super rusty when it comes to the interviewing process and all that jazz. However, I am going into it with an open mind. I just wanna know what I can do to improve my chances and make them fall in love with me next time they come around (duh). With that said, don’t be surprised if I get hired and move to Dubai by Halloween. Y’all know my life is ridiculous like that.
Please find it in your hearts to toss a few coins my way so I can hang out in space via Virgin Galactic. I only need $200,000! Y’all do realize my happiness is priceless, though… right?
I’m not really into jello shots, but can we talk about how adorable these are?!
hearts for eyes!
